  • Advice on how to cover chipboard to make curtain tables

Hello , I'm new here, though have been lurking a while
I am about to embark on a fairly big curtain project and am outgrowing the kitchen table! So I have bought two 4ft by 4ft pieces of chipboard to form a table top, on the advice of a curtain making friend. What would you recommend covering them with? Interlining and then blackout lining?
Has a anyone done something similar?
    Many thanks!

Re: Advice on how to cover chipboard to make curtain tables

I have a layer of table protector on mine with the fluffy side to the top. Penny from Denton Drapes sells table grids which makes life so much easier or else you can then cover it with sheeting or lining. The table protector means I can iron on it without problem and I can pin into it too.

The interlining should do the same but make sure it is pre-shrunk in my opinion.

It might be too late but I would also recommend 5ft width if you can manage it in your space. That way you can get a roll of fabric/width of curtain on the table at any one time.

I lined mine with wide fleece fabric ( someone in decozo recommended it -) great cushion and no joins to worry about. Then I have Penny Dentons grid table cloth - absolute godsend - that is a real must .
Good luck and enjoy - I think every house should have a big table . Mine is 150x 250 cms

No problem Tor, you'll soon find your way around the forum.

There is information about Penny's table grids here if you would like to read about them and see a photo.
