  • Anti-fatigue floor mat?

Spotted this in my new Lakeland catalogue and wondered if it might be useful for anyone with sore legs or feet from standing on a hard floor?

    Re: Anti-fatigue floor mat?

Yes it's good but it isn't big enough. In my other life I sell carpets, hard flooring et al. In my work room I have opted for a good wool mix twist pile carpet with a strong underlay felt/rubber. Ok it's a bit pricey but when you're on your feet for hours at a time it's important. My choice means I can work for longer with less strain and pain.

You could stick it on a large skate board affair - then you're sorted and learning a new skill too!

LOL my son has just discarded his memory foam mattress topper and I need to find it a home - having discovered my vacuum storage bags won't stay shrunk maybe I should try it on the floor of my workroom!

              Re: Anti-fatigue floor mat?

              Hi Louise,

Saw this post and thought I may be able to add some value. The memory foam used as a mat to provide the fatigue relief wouldn't actually be very effective, as well as probably not lasting very long if used frequently due to the soft material used. Anti-fatigue mats tend to be more supportive and work by making the body constantly adjust position thus increasing blood circulation, whereas with the memory foam you would just sink into the foam, and manoeuvring on the mat may be tricky. You should also consider the material used as well. I imagine the memory foam mat would be quite absorptive and wouldn't be as simple as wiping off stains.

You're probably thinking who is the guy, and why is he so interested in mats...and i wouldn't blame you! I specialise in anti-fatigue matting and if you were interested, i've written a detailed article on anti fatigue matting and all the health benefits that they provide. It may not be the most interesting of topics, but if you are considering purchasing one then definitely worth being clued up on!

You can find my article on the benefits of anti fatigue mats here.

              Hope this helps,
              John
