Headboard virgin!

Hi there

I am looking to make a simple single bed headboard for myself, with a view to making more for my house if they are successful! Ideally it would have a little shape to it. Really grateful for advice on what board to use, size of foam and anything else I need to know on how to make one. Do I add anything after the foam? Does it need to be the exact width of the bed?
