  • Double piping

I've just been asked by a fellow upholsterer if i would make some double piping, as they do not have the inclination or machine foot to do it!
How much do you think is a resonable charge?
It would be about 10 metres in total, and want to get the charging right as I think it may be the start of more orders. I haven't been able to find anywhere to get a comparison quote from. I have an inclination to undervalue my work and charge to little!!

    thanks

    Re: Double piping

    Hi Mary

Maybe you could charge by the foot plus sundries and then add 25% to the final figure. Maybe £1.50 a foot?

      Re: Double piping

There is some interesting info on double piping for upholstery here http://www.jamiltonupholstery.co.uk/...ails.asp?id=10 as well as other useful tips on buttoning etc. They sell upholstery supplies too.

And a different method here (a US site so uses the term welt instead of piping) http://www.winterssewing.com/drupal/node/115

There is a video of how to use a double piping foot here http://www.sewingmachine-sales.co.uk...ping-foot.html
