  • Shaped Pelmet

    Hi
When it comes to pelmets I have always done rigid pelmets which my other half makes for me!

Yesterday I got a job off a client and she wants 2 shaped pelmets making with buckram etc, which will be hung off a shelf type fixing with velco.

Could you please advise what I will need for making up, is Pelform required, is buckram hard on the hands etc.

    Really appreciate any advice.

    Regards

    Re: Shaped Pelmet

I have made straight pelmets from pelmet buckram successfully. I followed the instructions from Encyclopaedia of Curtains and used either polyester wadding or interlining to cover the buckram and soften the edges. I made hinges for the returns using Duck Tape to hold them in place (available from DIY stores). The buckram is not too hard to cut with sturdy scissors - I bought some for the purpose but you can also get these buckram cutters.
