Blackwatch Tartan pelmet

I promised my customer I would have her Blackwatch tartan pelmet ready in time for Christmas, silly me

It was a bit more difficult than i'd originally thought, as I had to make sure the horizontal lines in the tartan were straight as well as the vertical ones Also, I wanted the pattern on the tails to match the pelmet so as not to look messy. I self piped the pelmet in a thick piping cord covered in forrest green seville by Villa Nova, which I had used to back the tails in.

Now need to find a heavy key tassel in bottle green/black to hang from the middle point!

I managed to deliver and hang the pelmet on Christmas eve, and the lady was 'over the moon' thank god!

What a beautiful way to deal with a wide opening between two rooms/spaces. Is that your own design or had you already seen it done (pelmet with tails)? I know you've used it once before in a bedroom and it was beautiful there but looks perfect (and totally different) here. You have lined everything up so well. How long does something like that take you?

If you talk nicely to her, Penny might have a tiny wee black tassel or two, but then again she might have used them up .....

I hope your customer has lots of friends!

Well Jules I have to admit the pelmet took a good few hours to do, and would have been much quicker in plain fabric, but probably not as stunning.

Yes Dave it was fun on Christmas Eve delivering the pelmet in the snow and ice, but I must say more fun knowing it all fitted right

I now have to do 3 pelmets for the room that can be seen in the back ground, although I am just re covering some that the clients husband made himself, and they will be covered in the same fabric that is on the rattan chairs. I personally think it would have been better to take the tartan through into the other room but there you go, the customer is always right!!!!
