  • Rams Head Pelmet

Hi Jules, I made this pelmet years ago for a very dramatic lady this was only the half landing! the rest of the house was just as eccentric.

They are chicken farmers and the husband had a convertable Cadillac, with the number plate Hen 1

    Hi pelmet man,

Your window creation is fab and the pelmet is amazing. Did you do all the carved wood yourself, or is it available to buy?

I'm so interested in pelmet making, although mine are no way as great as yours.

      Hi Bev,
The wood mouldings are off the peg from people who supply mouldings for pine beds, the Rams head is resin I don't know if it is still available.

This site is very addictive I should be in the workshop

        Hi Dave,

So did you cover the pelmet first then add the moldings? and what treatment did you put on the wood carvings? Questions, questions, bet your sick of me already.

Yes I should be in my workroom, but first time in a long time I've allowed myself the pleasure of surfing the forum on a Saturday.....

Off to graft right now - honest ......

          Re: Rams Head Pelmet

          Hi Bev,

It's a while ago now, but if I recall correctly I covered the pelmet first then put on a layer of polythene as the mouldings where going to be painted by someone else, fitted the mouldings, and once it had been painted carefully removed the plastic with a stanley knife, very nerve racking as one slip and I would have cut the silk.

I have done similar since but now I spray paint first.

            Re: Rams Head Pelmet

It's really opulent as window dressings go and beautifully done - somehow wouldn't have had the same impact with a chicken's head in place of the ram's head, lol!

I think I'd run a mile if someone asked me to create something like that!

Now, off to the work room for you, pelmet man or your better half will be banning you from My.Decozo on your first day of joining!
