  • What I've been up to today!

    Hi Everyone,

Since taking over an existing 18 year old business, it's been difficult to be hands on, and have found that I spend most of my time on admin, ordering etc etc!

The girls in the workshop tend to do most of the work, but being half-term, I decided to get my hands dirty.....hoorah, while the boys were playing around me lol....

    So here's what I did....enjoy....

Lovely work Sulki like the shape of the pelmet and the beads finish it of nicely.

How I'd love to have people working for me at this minute I would'nt mind just doing the admin.. or the tea!!!

      Sukhi,
They look fabulous - well done. Would love to be able to make a hard pelmet like that. Can you tell me what you used for the pelmet and how you constructed it.

Re: What I've been up to today!

        Hi

the pelmet is made from 6mm ply, i drew the shape on pattern paper with added 5cm returns, then got my joiner to cut it out. the returns were scored quite deep.

then the whole pelmet was covered in wadding and i then sewed round the wadding to hold it on place, The fabric was then stapled on the back, snipping into the curves to keep it smooth.

Finally i handsewed the lining onto the back using a curved needle, adding 3 loops across the top, which r used as extra support when the pelmet is velcroed to the pelmet board. Finally the beads were sewn following the shape of the board. finally velcro is added alond the top, I use sticky velcro and then staple through it just to secure it.

the sides that are scored are then snapped back to make the returns.

the loops are stapled onto the top of the pelmet board, to support the velcro hold.

        hope that helps,

                Hi Guys,

these were for a customer, we did two of these pelmets to sit over some existing brown blinds. The fabric is Villa Nova, but I teamed it with pt olive divine wallpaper from their reflection range, they look brill together.

                thanks for all your comments,

its put a real smile on my face lol xx
