  • Green Swags placed high up

I have made these swags to be positioned higher up on the window deliberately to gain some height. It will look beter when the curtains are made (hopefully). You can see a bit of the window frame and paint though. I copied the idea from Merrick and Day Curtain Inspiration Page 166 although the pant colour is lighter. in that room they did a similar thing. Do you all think it will look OK when curtains are made? I do not want to lower the board as it will block out too much light. Obviously boards look great on a tall window up to the cornice but in this instance its a small window. Its a study and I wanted a formal look.

        Karen, how beautiful!!! So clever.

If they wern't so high, you'd obscure all the detail of the window casement wouldn't you? I've never made them (far too complicated for my brain) but I don't see a problem. What do the rest of you think?

Hi Karen i think you swags look lovely if they hung any lower they would obscure some of the light so you are about right i would say . Do you use M &D pattern or make up your own pattern for swags ,i have the Parker Hill system which seems to work most of the time .

I use the Merrick and Day swag patterns. In this case the window is actually quite small. The overall drop at that height from top of board to floor is 254cm. I used the 55cm pattern. It has taken me months to get these finished and I just have the curtains to make now. Interlined and pinch pleat. Will post a pic when done. Will likely make them a bit overlong. Its Sanderson William Morris fabric. I dont know about everyone else but I am very very indecisive about any work I do for myself.

Me too, Karen. Though, I don't see what you've got to be indecisive about...

                Swags and Tails look fantastic!

I too am indecisive for myself, I have a huge problem with the amount of choice that there is out there - it confuses me when I have to decide for myself!
                Kindest Regards,

Not just that Karen, I am like my alter ego difficult customer - you know the one that says not sure if thats quite right. Perfectionist to the end. Until a few days pass and I tell myself I am just being silly.
