  • Evans Account

Hi, I have just opened an account with Evans.
    Through them I have been asked to pass on this message to all decozo members;

    From Carl Bennett
We have quite a number of decozo members trading with us but there seems to be some confusion about "trade accounts".
Our policy is that we will open accounts for all curtain makers, they do not necessarily have to be registered businesses, just "in the trade"

    Regards
    Irene

Irene, just so I am sure do you know their full web address? Did you mean Evans Textiles in Manchester, suppliers of linings and other curtain accessories?
    Thanks

            Re: Evans Account

I would like to open an Evans account but would I be able to buy by the metre rather buying a whole roll?

            Thanks

                    Re: Evans Account

If you're looking to buy smaller amounts by the metre then I suggest you take a look at Colly Brook and Merrick & Day, both offer very reasonably priced workroom items. M&D will also give a 10% discount on small quantities if you open a trade account with them. If opening an account with M&D, please mention the forum.

                      Re: Evans Account

                      Hi Co,

Evans offer a cut length by the metre service on all of their linings and blackouts, plus most of the interlinings. Accessory products are in the usual lengths/units as per most suppliers.

                        Re: Evans Account

Have just enquired about opening accounts with Colly Brook and Evans, but Merrick and Day ask for proof of trade status, so require sight of two trade invoices. Are there any other companies who do not have this requirement? I am just starting out on the official business status track, so it is hard to get those first trade invoices. Will Merrick and Day allow me to open such an account simply because of membership of this forum without proof that I have a business account with two other companies?
Or should I just bite the bullet and ask?

                          Re: Evans Account

You could try Pretty Frills trade and start on a pro forma basis.
They ask for a letterhead as proof of business.

Once you get one account up and going and show you are a paying customer, you can obviously use them as a reference to open more accounts. You may find you need to start off pro forma with most places.

Thanks for that Louise, I really only wanted a proforma account for now anyway, but Merrick and Day don't seem to offer one. I will try Pretty Frills as you suggest. Letterhead will be winging its way as soon as I can!

Minx, you don't need a trade account to buy from M&D or Colly Brook, both offer excellent prices direct to the public.
