  • French cherub bed

    On a recent holiday to France we visited a small chateau and I thought this bed was interesting.

    [attachment=0:70qs40c6]cherub bed small.jpg[/attachment:70qs40c6]

    The 'canopy' looked almost like a large ornate picture frame hung horizontally from the ceiling by four chains (you weren't allowed any further into the room to get a good look!) Then the drapes were attached to the frame and draped to the corners of the bed where they were threaded through the arms of cherubs to pool on the floor.

    I liked the contrast between the dark, rich room and the white drapes with self-coloured deep fringing at the edge. I think this would be equally effective in a more modern setting if you could get the right bed.

    Beautiful, if you have the ceiling height!

      That is a beautiful bedroom. If only our clients had houses and wanted treatments like that.

            I thought a similar bed treatment could also work as the focal point in a contemporary room where the walls etc. were white or ivory - then a gold bed and canopy would really stand out (or am I getting too 'Hello' magazine ???????)
