Is there any way you could convince her to buy a little more fabric and have a contrast band across the middle so it looks intentional?

Assuming it was her fabric, make sure you charge for the extra work......

          Re: rail road fabric

We've got some curtains to make in a Jim Dickens railroad stripe fabric, and the customer wants vertical stripes. We're going to join them horizontally, and use braid to cover the seams. There are three pairs, one full length on glass doors (which are tucked out of the way) and so we will put two pieces of braid on, one to cover the seam and one towards the hem. The second pair need to be joined nearer to the hem, so the braid will be in the right place. On the third, shorter pair, which dont need to be joined, we're going to put some braid across as well. It's all going to look like it was designed like that (I hope!).

Well, thank you lss, I'm glad you think so. I think with the proper planning of the placement of the seam and braid on each curtain, it should look okay.
              Kind regards
