I would seriously consider pm ing Bluebell for help with traditional lampshades. There is a picture in the gallery of one she did before I joined and it is just excellent.

Been asked to recover 2 very large old lampshades in Linwood Jem Silk.
Never done them before, but always wanted to do something like this!
Any advice before I go ahead, both have double piping at the top and bottom.
Does silk handle easy?
Ordered an e-manual from a lady in America - Maude, seems very useful.
