  • Pattern matching stripes on a box cushion.

I am trying to pattern match stripes on a box cushion. Between the face fabric and the border there is a flanged cord. I have tried pinning and it is still moving so they don't line up perfectly.
    Any tips would be appreciated.

If you've tried LOTS of pins (!) then you maybe need to hand baste the layers together to hold still while you machine. A walking foot should also help, but this might not be possible if it prevents you stitching up close to the cord.

I have read about people using staples (like you'd use on pieces of paper) instead of basting but I'd worry they would catch or scratch the machine or foot, or prevent the fabric moving smoothly through the machine in this situation where you have to sew close to them.

Many thanks Louise, very time consuming but it is working.

Hopefully this worked OK and you are pleased with the match - I think the result is worth the extra effort!
