  • Problems overlocking velvet....

    Trying to overlock the edges of some cushion panels cut from a customer's polyester velvet and one or other of the needle threads kept slipping sideways out of the thread retainer above the needles and refusing to 'engage' to create a seam so I had a long loose thread.

    I found it worked fine if I put the fabric face down, even though it felt wrong to put the pile against the feed dog teeth.

    Domestic or industrial overlock?
    Have you tried spraying the cone with a little silicone?
