I use to always use the wooden version - its easier to cut but now I use the fibre glass and ali simply as I order it in and have it stocked ready, but I dont do that many roman blinds !
I do think the Ali bar is far better as it weights the blind better and that is the worse to cut I find. Fibre rods are a doddle to cut, just got to make sure you dont touch the ends with your fingers!
Thank you The reason I asked was I was worried the fibreglass rods will have a tendancy to bow on a blind this size???
If I opt for the ali bar at the bottom and fibreglass rods, will it distort the blind??
I am used to working with wooden dowels and weight bars but ordered a substantial amount of fibre glass rods and ali weight bars I dont want to have to undo work cos my days are not long enough at the moment!
Thanks for the input though, its really great to be able to come on here and ask opinions. The blind is leaving the workroom tomorrow afternoon and is sitting awaiting the rods and weight bar I'm all a dither lol!
I always use fibreglass rods and have never had any comments from customers about them bowing even with blinds over 2m wide like this one. Once they are in place (I make channels in the lining for the rod pockets) then the fact that they are held in the channels of fabric keeps them straight and as Irene says, don't skimp on the rings.
Fibreglass rods are fine for wider blinds, but use sufficient carriers and cording.. Without the rods will bow. You can but an aluminium rod also for wider blinds.
