  • Double checking my calculations....

Have spent the last 2 weeks studying blinds - I think I am now ready to get started on re-doing the study one (properly this time!!).

I am following the M and D book Curtains, blinds and Cushions.

Blind is in recess - final measurement 114cm wide, 116 deep and using the existing headrail 10cms deep.

so.... with a 2cm cascade and working on 7 sections, 3 rod pockets...

I am working on pleat sections 1 and 2 @12.5cm each

    3 and 4 @ 14.5cms each
    5 and 6 @ 16.5cm each
    and section 7 at 18.5cm.

I will make my rod pockets directly from the lining and attempt to handsew the rest of the blind

    Hope the above makes sense.

I have re-read the making-up part a billion times, so trying to get to grips with this project mentally, before I do an 'angela' and cock it all up!.

    Hi Ang

If you're going to cascade the space in between the pockets should get smaller from bottom to top.

      Hi Philip!

I am now completely confused. (doesn't take much). The M and D example for cascade fold calculations also gets bigger pleat sections as you go 'down' the blind, though thinking about my professionally made bedroom and lounge blinds, the pleat section at the bottom is quite small.

      I am really stuck now.

        Hi Ang

Sorry if I've confused you, your calculations will work for a cascading blind - Looking at it again I can see that the first rod will go in at 18.5, the second at 33, 33h at 29 - top..

I initially read saw that the other way around..
