pyramid bottom roman blind

Hi Everyone

My Mum wants me to make her a roman blind with a pyramid bottom and tassle
I have tried to get a picture of one but cant find one

What l want to know is what drop do i make the pyramid at the bottom of the blind
Also Is this included in the finished drop of the blind or added to the finished drop

i take it i just make it up the same way as a blind with a shaped hem

any tips would be much appreciated

Hi Marela,
You dont say if the blind will be inside or outside of the window recess. Either way, you need to decide what the finished drop of your blind will be and this will include the shaping at the bottom.

I would make it up the same way as a shaped hem on a blind. If you include it in the finished length for your rod/ring calculations, when the blind is up the shaping will not be seen.

I would deduct the length of the shaping from the finished length and calculate the rod/ring spacings, then measure from the top of the shaped area, so that the shape will show below the folds of the blind. Dont forget, of course, that when the blind is pulled up, it will measure the size of the folds plus the shaped area, and hang lower than a plain bottom blind. You can adjust the size of the folds to make them smaller to reduce this.

Hello Marela,

Will the blind be just for show? If it is to be fitted inside the window (with a window sill) the blind won't shade the whole window when in the down position unless the triangle and tassel sit flat on the sill. There will be a triangular gap at either side at the bottom of the window with an extra gap at the bottom if you want to allow the tassel to 'hang' when the blind is dropped....
