Hi is there a general rule for how much you add on to the curtain embrace to work out how long a rope tie back should be?

    Hi Kim,

Yes, I generally go for 70cm embrace up to 1.5 width and anything over that go up accordingly. Jones now do a rope one that you can add an extension.

    Hope this helps.

If you can't find a tieback long enough, you can try using 2 hooks for each curtain (instead of putting both ends of the tieback on one hook).

        Re: rope tiebacks

I am making interlined curtains 2widths wide and the customer has used an interio designer and she emailed asking what length tie back to order. Aparently they are made to order so she wants exact measurment.

So the designer doesn't want a 'general rule' - if an exact measurement is needed they will need to wait for the curtains you are making to be finished so that you can hang them and the designer can put a tape measure around them to get the effect they require. The exact measurement will vary for each situation depending on the fabric, interlining, heading etc. used, as well as the designers taste in how they would like the curtains dressed.
