  • Hiding a zip on a boxed cushion

I need to make a piped box bench-style cushion, but both of the long sides will be seen. (I would usually set the zip in the boxing on one long side, the back of the seat).

What is the best way to put the zip in so that it is not too obvious. Has anyone set the zip in along one piped edge?

    Hi Louise,
I often set the zip along the piping on box cushions that can be seen from behind, the piping hides them well although they are not invisible!

Thanks Melanie. Do you sew the zip part of the boxing first....a bit like making a piped scatter cushion? Then sew the other 3 sides......

That's a great video Jacqui, and uses a standard zipper foot...... looks much easier.

I have just set the first 130cm invisible zip into the piped box seam - it is so neat, the zip just disappears. Thanks Jacqui for the video recommendation it was very easy to follow!
