  • Poles for HEAVY weight curtains....

Which/who's poles does one use/would one recommend for heavy weight curtains?

I notice that some suppliers (though not many) suggest their products are suitable for either light, medium or heavy weight curtains. There appears to be a huge choice for light to medium weight, but very little choice for heavy weight ones.....

    Advice please?

Silent Gliss do a good range and even advise weights suitable for their tracking. A phone call to any supplier should be enough to gain the required information, Jules - What do your curtains weigh?

Enough, Philip, to keep pulling the pole down.

They are only 2.5 widths per curtain of heavy linen, interlined, double pleats. In the end we've had to bolt into the lintel. I'm sure the walls are partly responsible but I just wondered who sold poles (metal btw) that have the best brackets?

Jules maybe you should go for pole with a double screw bracket - They have a screw at the bottom and top of the bracket, probably about 15cm between screws.

This is a substantial bracket and comes in various sizes and finishes from M&D

Jules you might try Hunter and Hyland in Surrey, they specialise in poles. I know they are expensive but the quality is second to none.

Unless using a sheer fabric I always recommend a pole diameter of no less than 28mm anyway, erring on the side of caution as the price difference between 19mm and 28mm isnt that much different and is worth the extra pennies.

            Hallis Hudson
            Cope and Timmins
            Intergra

            all stock 28mm + poles.

              Thank you Philip and T,

That pic looks more the ticket but looks like the pole fits quite close in to the wall..... I will check out the other links too and let you know what I find.

If it's the walls, you have the same problem as us. In the end, we resorted to screwing narrow wooden batons to the walls using big long screws (which wouldn't fit through most bracket holes), painting the batten to match the wall then fixing the brackets to the batten. Not ideal but the curtains do now stay up and the battens barely show.
