measuring a bay track

I have to measure a bay window track that is already fitted. what is the easiest way to do this. i will be on my own.

Could you take some Blu Tac or large clothes pegs (or similar) with you to hold the end of the tape measure in place on the track while you work round and find the final measurement?

Why not try and measure it in sections using a small pencil to mark the track lightly, it will rub off

I either measure in sections. Or if it is a rounded bay use a soft tape measure. Don't forget the returns too.
