  • Interlining - again

I need to interline faux silk curtains. Would you use dommet, bump or sarrill (sp?)?

I have always used cotton products but wonder if sarrill has a use here?

    Thanks.

    Re: Interlining - again

    Hi Jules
I made some faux silk polyester curtains with a lighter weight sarille and they were just fine. As you probably know, sarille doesn't drape as well as the domette but I prefer it when using synthetic fabrics. Both are more stable and in my view, work well together. Get some sample though as it can seem thicker when compared weight for weight to domette and this may affect the final result that you want to achieve.

Lovely to see you, and thanks for being the only one to reply to my post!!! I will take your advice and try some sarilles of different weights. Will let you know how I got on.

        Hi Jules,

It depends on the look you are trying to achieve or what your customer expects! I use the 410gm bump thats pre shrunk so when curtains are dry clean ( I dont recommend that to anyone ) theres less of a chance of shrinkage. It does give a beautiful finish to the curtain, really full and lush. I get mine from Edumnd Bell and its a nice quality too.

        or theres a lighter weight

If you contact them , they send out a full sample card of all the different interlinings.

It's a man made fibre but it has a good feel to it and it's a meaty product unlike the serrille.
