  • Hem Depth

I'm making curtains for patio doors, pole width 96" by drop 90" in a medium to heavy weight fabric, interlined, lined and will be using 5"/6" pencil pleat header tape should I make the finished hems of the actual curtain fabric 5" or 3" deep? I am thinking it should be 5" for the weight to make them hang nicer but would like other opinions. Thanks

    Re: Hem Depth

With interlined curtain I use a 5" hem allowance. I take the interlining to the bottom of the fabric, turn up 2"press, trim back the interlining on the crease line, then turn up 3" and herringbone the hem down after inserting the weights
