  • sew in pinch pleat hooks -microflex

I have been having problems sewing in these hooks, i used my zipper foot, problem was that the tension on the thread went to pot as soon as i started sewing on the hook, went really loose, or the thread kept breaking. I got my thinking head on to try to think of something to resolve it and came up with the idea to try using my piping foot instead. I took the hook of the runner, used the piping foot with the raised part of the hook running in the groove and hey presto perfect =) got nice and close to the runner, stitch was perfect and no breaking thread. Hope this helps anyone having similar problems.

Ill tell you why i like them Rosie, they are sooooo easy to adjust, when you are fitting the curtains it makes life a lot easier. i find it quicker, just click the hook down.

I have used the microflex hook before but after a while i found it became really brittle from being in the sunlight. After taking the curtains down i found alot of them had broke.

I have recently discovered the Conflex hook, which seems to be exactly the same as the microflex hook with the adjustment sliders but is alot more flexible and doesnt break or become brittle. I have been using these conflex hooks for the past month now and i havent had one problem with the Conflex Hooks !

I buy mine online for 10p each which is pretty reasonable.

          Thanks

          Rhys

How many of you use these pleat hooks instead of the pin hooks?

I'm thinking of using them in future as they have height adjustment which would be useful.
                Kind regards

I use the microflex ones from Jones. I have been using these for about two years now whiteout any problems.

There are some cheaper ones out there but they are the ones that go brittle

Re: sew in pinch pleat hooks -microflex

With the conflex hooks they haven't broke or became brittle. I have bent the conflex ones over and also the microflex ones, conflex just bend over without breaking but the microflex ones break which is a shame.

I buy my conflex hooks from here. Conflex Hooks

Re: sew in pinch pleat hooks -microflex

We have found that when they are bent, the hooks have a white line down the center of the bend.

These break after a while. They become brittle etc. I have pictures but i dont know if i can upload them?

                          Thanks
