  • Wool curtains dropping

Has anyone else had this problem?

I made some lined, interlined wool curtains with pinch pleat heading for customer (difficult lady) to reach from ceiling to floor to cut off a stair way and prevent loss of heat up the stairs. These were made to a finished length of 222.5cm. As soon as they were hung, they dropped and became overlong. I told customer I would shorten them for her and, when I brought them back to the workroom after they had been hanging a week, they were measuring 224cm. Is this a common problem of wool or might it have been a problem in making up? Because of the size of the curtains (3 fabric widths each curtain), I had sent them off to be made up. I don't feel I can send them back to the maker as she started unpicking the hem to pin them at her preferred length so I have started shortening them myself... it would be good to know if anyone else has had this problem and how to prevent it in future.

    Thanks

    Annie
