  • Should I use Curtain Weights?

    Hi,

Simple question actually. I have never given this a thought in the past, and have always used lead weights in FR curtains. However, this has just crossed my mind - SHOULD I be using weights in FR curtains. This is my next job, so your quick comments would be appreciated. These are for a residential home. I have had to supply FR Certs etc.

    Thanks,
    Sue.

Lead weights aren't flammable, so why not?

      Hi Suel

Why are you concerned ? the lead weights are covered in lining (thats how mine are) I have just made Fr curtains for my dining room and weighted them.

        Hello

Yes I agree if the bulk of the curatins are FR then they wont erupt in flames. The fact that a tiny wee bit is non FR will not be enough to send it up in flames I should not think. After all the thread is not FR.

Thanks Guys - Just worrying for worryings sake (as we do!).

Have cut the fabric and now realise it is half drop - whoops. Think I can get away with joining further into the width ... the fabric is generous on the width and they are pencil pleated - whew!
